  1. How best to install wide window perf????

Perf film can be installed wet or dry if unlaminated, I find wet apply is faster for larger application, especially large prints with one person vertical drops, which most windows are. David
  2. To laminate front printed translucent or not to?

Laminate Yes you should Laminate. For UV resistance ( will double the life of print before fading) as well as added scratch resistance. And with some ink/media combinations, especially yellow can fade visibly in 18 months. David
  3. Aluminium vs brass stand off fixings

Depends on coatings and environment used The aluminium ones I have used corrode outside and look bad after about 6 months in salt air. Inside no problem. Brass seem stronger and if the coating is good will last longer outside. David

  5. Huge help needed to get print work done that we can clear coat in...

Most sign companies would carry cast film, You would probably need to print to white unless you will be applying to a white background as the inks, in most cases need a white base to show the colors correctly. Will the graphic fade into background or will there be a defining edge? As Bob said...
  6. Huge help needed to get print work done that we can clear coat in...

hi 57 Chevy, We 2 pac clear many or our digital prints and it gives a great high gloss and protective finish, One way I can think of, digital print to a high quality cast film, you would then install and clear coat, a thick coat, then sand back to take some of raised edge away, you would not...
  7. How much do you pay your shop help?

I could possibly get inexperienced help for $20-$25 per hour USD, but to get anyone to turn up here with some experience around $40 per hour. People who know their stuff and get the job done fast $80 - $100 per hour as contractor, you may have noticed this is not in the USA. My friend has a...
  8. Hello new member with an old roland problem

There is no easy solution, under different light the pigments will reflect different colours. You can Print a bunch of swatches and get the customer to approve in the light that the print will most often be displayed. Printing with CMYK, Lc, LM and light black will hopefully allow more...
  9. Looking to expand into printing & installing window perf

Depends on the film, Monomeric 1-2 years or polymeric 3-4 years. the amount of UV exposure has a big effect on the film life. As the film adhesive has less grab area a cheap laminate will contract and make the film curl on the edges prematurely.
  10. Looking to expand into printing & installing window perf

to laminate or not is your first consideration, Its easy to install unlaminated and obviously cheaper to produce, if laminated it needs to be installed dry, And you need to use the right Overlaminate, Window perf film generally does not last as well as non perf films.
  11. Heres a noodle scratcher

Black I am not sure about UV or Latex, but Solvent and Eco solvent printed 0,0,0,100 Prints look solid black, printing 75 68 67 90 for example looks about the same , just puts down more ink. this is the case on the 5 different solvent printers I have run over the years. Now if you are talking...
  12. Heres a noodle scratcher

black ink Your media profile should apply correct ink limits. For printing opaque vinyl film, generally CMYK 0,0,0,100 will give a deep black, if not 50,50,50,100 for example. More than this can cause problems and wastes ink. David
