  1. Question from the Edge

Its probably a bad keypad. Also try holding the reset button while turning on machine to reset to factory defaults. I'm not certain but you may be able to use a LE or edge2 keypad to keep it going. (i don't know if they are still available) Also for the old classics and trunion models (the...
  2. edge 2 problem help please thermistor error

The thermistor is part of the printhead and measures the temperature. You can't see it as it is on the backside of the printhead where it touches the mount. I don't remember many of the failing. It is more likely that the printhead data cable has failed or the bottom cpu board. The number...
  3. n00b Envision 375 and EdgeII setup questions

There is a manufactures sticker on the printhead, left or upper depending on which edge you have that has a variety of numbers on it. The serial number is date coded, it is two numbers a dash and 5 numbers. The first number is the year made, the second number is the month ( with x,y,z for oct...
  4. check foil problem

With the edge offline press the setup key until you get to TH DISPLAY, use the vinyl slew button to turn it on, press offline and then online. Your display should now have 3 sets of numbers. The set of numbers on the right is the printhead temp in C.The edge needs to be at 25 before it prints...
  5. Oiling a 4B/4E

The easiest solution would be to take the plotter part of the 4B and hook it up to the 4E base. The cutters are the same just different color covers.
  6. Edge 1 problem

Did you check the silver clip that holds the foil in. Alot of times it gets bent up and out of the way of the cassette but it hits the bail arm and causes extra pressure on the vinyl. You may see the scratches on the bail arm to the right side of the knob. Also check the plastic pressure...
  7. getting "snowy" on the Edge

The shims are removed after the printhead is torqued, so doesn't need to be plastic. You just need to use the same thickness shim on both ends so that the printhead is square to the vinyl.
  8. getting "snowy" on the Edge

Since curiosity killed the cat I figured I'd tell you how to tear apart and put back together the machine. I'm fairly certain I covered it all. If you have nothing to lose on the machine it's worth a shot. You'll need some tools, Plastic shims up to about .020 inches cut into 1 inch squares...
  9. getting "snowy" on the Edge

Definately not a trunion if you have the nut. A two to three inch wide band of poor print suggests that the printline is not correct. If your going to tear it apart I highly recommend trying to get the service manual for the classic edge.
  10. getting "snowy" on the Edge

Also I think you can run plotspooler with out the dongle. So if you can get someone to create the test job and save it as 4.3 version(Not sure if this is still available to do) you should be able to print the job. I also think you can use msdos to <splprint filename lpt1>. (not really sure of...
  11. getting "snowy" on the Edge

I don't know anything about flexi , but I think that reflective vinyl has the highest pressure (1350) for gerber software. You can also change the pressure cal to 100 (range is -100 to +100) you'll have to push the vinyl slew button 100 times. This will not reset with the jobs and increases...
  12. gerber gs15plus cutting problem

The picture looks like it jammed once going across the vinyl. Are the silver bars that the carriage rides on dry? If so clean with isopropyl alcohol and wipe with a bit of 3 in 1 oil slew the carriage back and forth wipe off the bars and repeat a few times. You can also remove the black cover...
  13. SR1500 / Edge1 - Would You Buy It?

The sr1500 is the same (except for the white covers and red labels) as what most people call an edge 1 or LE edge. The model prior to the edge 2. I'm not sure if gerber still services it or not. It uses the same foils as the edge 2. Print minutes came after your machine was built. If the...
