  1. recommendation for book c.oth cover printing

There is a polyester version. Undortunately big presses aren't an option as our average book run is 1.5 copies.
  2. recommendation for book c.oth cover printing

we're planning to use a cloth that resembles a woven linen, even though it is actually fabric. The most populat is called Iris.
  3. recommendation for book c.oth cover printing

Thanks for you comments. I didn't know that dye sub required washing - so that's definitely off the list. What machine category do you think I should look at? FWIW, we do books on demand, so we need to be able to run copies of 1.
  4. recommendation for book c.oth cover printing

Hi All I'm looking for advice on which wide format printer would be best for printing book covers. We print high-end photo books for the consumer and professional photography markets, so quality is important. But more important is durability and longevity. I had an HP 365 for a while and I...

Damn metric folks! :) I'm equally not good at lbs but I think 150gsm is about 55lb, and 32micron film is about 1.25mil or .0012" (eg really thin)

I am planning to cut 150gsm paper with a 32mic laminate. Not having dealt with vinyl before - can anyone shed any light on whether my choice would be considered an easy light-weight job, and therefore hopefully less prone to jams or other issues?

Thanks JBurton That is a really good insight for me. Is that the standard cutting speed? As soon as covid restrictions ease (I'm in Australia) I'll be heading off to our local Graphtec agent to do some hands on tests. Thanks to everyone here for the feedback Geoff

That's a concern. I had assumed you could elect what style of cut to use and if you want a full cut, you can do it. Perf cut will definitely not work for me as I need the edges to be nice and smooth. Thanks for the insight!

I get it now :) As you suggest, the 1st pass is not so labour intensive. The second set of passes is though, as it requires the left and right ends to be cut for all of the 80 to 100 covers on a roll (and we do about 4 rolls per day). It works but it's tedious, and I'm hoping to find a simpler...

Thanks Ikarasu. Which software do you use to set up the different cuts?

We print 30m at a time with about 80 covers in that length. My knowledge of Corel is pretty outdated, but I don't recall it being suited for this. Let me know if I'm missing something

I'm feeding 30 metre rolls. After printing, the rolls are laminated, so the print is essentially reversed by that process. We have a Fotoba Digitrim 62. It's been brilliant but it's 12 years old and on its last legs (and labour intensive)

Thanks Jimmmi I have been studying the xpf file format in the hopes that it gives a clue. Ultimately I hope to have our tech team write the cutting instructions into an xpf file, and hopefully the order of the instructions in that file will determine the start point. Cheers Geoff

Thanks for your replies It sounds like Cutting Master is where I will start. The reason the cutting order is important : I'm printing book and box covers on 44" media. We currently cut with a Fotoba (X axis only) and it is too labor intensive, so I'm hoping to move to a cutter. The covers...
  15. Need Help set cut start location

Hi I'm a newbie to cutters. I am considering buying a 9000 cutter. All my cuts will be rectangles only. Can anyone tell me if I will have the ability to determine the corner at which the knife starts? I need to be able to tell it which corner to start from... to always start the cut from...
