More likely than not the mistake was made at the shop on the patent.

If you want to manipulate it yourself you could get a plug-in called eye candy 7 for Photoshop and it would make it a lot easier trying to duplicate a gold turned look.

I am sorry I'm not familiar with flexi, but in sign lab you can make any shape and use alt C to cut that shape out of an image.
This is what works for me.
I sweep the day before painting.
I do not sweep or blow off anything off the day of painting, the MDO is lightly sanded and tact ragged down and put aside.
The day of painting I pour water on the floor to keep the dust down.
I use one shot thinned a little bit and add...
