Need Help 3M Controltac ij180cm

Hello, I’m trying to figure out why the SS21 ink is causing the vinyl’s adhesive problems.

The vinyl applies as 3M describes, but once it’s printed on it becomes a nightmare to install. It loses the slideability and the adhesive is very strong causing the backing paper difficult to remove. I’m trying to print a large 48”x10’ sign.

I’m printing with a Mimaki CJV300-160 SS21 ink

Could my heat settings be off? I’m set at 104-114

Could the ICC profile be causing an issue?

I would appreciate any help

Thanks

How long after printing are you doing the install?

We find solvent inks make the material gummy, even after the recommended offgass time it's still a bit gumny....

But if you're printing, then laminating right away, then installing all the chemicals get trapped in the glue and can cause your issue.

Not sure on Roland's offgass time, but try to print and let it sit until the next day and then laminate it, see if the issue is still there.
