If you're willing to look hard enough and be flexible about travel times and you're willing to take twice as long to get there you'd be amazed at the travel deals you can find.

I used to belong to a website that would post last minute travel bargains. They'd post round trip airfare to Paris for $65...the only catch would be that the plane was leaving in six hours and you'd only have 18 hours in Paris before the return flight.
