5 Mil UV textured lam

So, I was thinking of contour cutting a design out of my sixty inch roll of 5 Mil UV textured lam for a window in my shop about 57" x 36". I know it will look awesome and is much thicker than the traditional Frosted window films that sell for a much higher sq footage price. However, I have heard horror stories about windows shattering because of some window films. SO, I am a bit hesitant to try it out and offer it to customers. Any insight or knowledge in this area would be appreciated.

Dark films or dark graphics covering all or most of the glass cause heat gain issues with IG panels. Laminate is essentially clear. To be absolutely sure pay a window film professional to do the calcs.
