Sweet how exactly does the roller drop cant tell from the pix? ive used some with hand crank like seals

I'm looking at those laminators too. This one is raised/lowered by those two knobs on the top.

After I have found that out, I changed my mind and I think that I will go with this one.
It has a electric up/down controls. I do not know if that is ideal, but it seams a lot better than the knobs.

Mine has the two twist knobs on top. One for either side..works just fine for me. just lower top roller until it touches bottom roller and knobs spin freely.

Side note, I finally tried mounting unlamited prints to 4x8 coro with it this weekend for our local parade...AWESOME...wish I would have tried that sooner! lol

I've owned the larger AK-600 (65") for almost 3 years now. On the AK series, the machine has independent knobs on each side to lower the top roller. When you web it up, you have to be vigilant when you lower the roller that you are doing it evenly. Otherwise you might see some tracking issues after you run a few feet. I typically get mine within about 1/4" and then adjust each side down about 1/2 turn each until the knobs go slack. At that point the you want the weight of the roller itself as the only pressure on the laminate. Do not try to tighten or apply more pressure by turning the knobs - just lower until both sides go slack. If you do it right, both should go slack about the same time (within a turn or two of each other).

I've gotten very confident with mine and can run anything from a small piece to a full wrap. Again, very happy with mine, for the money it can't be beat.

*BTW - I would opt for the AK-600 if I were you. For only another $100-$200 I think? It's well worth it and you never know when you might need the extra width.

I have owned 2 of there laminators over the past 5 years and still use one today.

I have had no problems and would recommend them to anyone.

I have ran 40 and 50 foot long runs with no real tracking issues (you do have to know how to web a laminator) and I have mounted many of prints on to everything from coro, maxmetal and plywood.

I would get one with heat assist if you can afford it its a nice added feature to have sometimes.

Dont mean to take over your post but Ive been looking for a new laminator for months now, and have been contemplating the USTECH laminators that you are looking at, also looking at GFP. But today I came across these new laminators on USCUTTER and they seem awesome for the price especially. Any feedback on these would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Looks good, but time will tell.

The only thing that worries me about them, is a lack of history. Us Tech are proven laminators that work, no one knows anything about Lightning/EastSign laminators

Anybody else notice the laminator at the end of US Cutters vid was different than the one they started with? Started with crank roller height adjustment and ended with power height adjustment. Even zoomed right in on the control panel.

Yeah noticed that as well, the power height adjustment is from a higher end model of theirs not sure why they showed that on the zoomed in shot but that's what it is.

Also I agree that there is no feedback which has me a little leery but it seems likes decent product and the price is great for a heat assist with roll to roll capabilities in a 63". Someone should buy one and let us know how it works. Haha
