8' x 8' polycarbonate lighted sign panels

[Pixels Are Bad Mmmkay?]

We are estimating a lighted sign panel replacement job that requires two 8' x 8' sheets of polycarbonate. We can find the panels we need in those dimensions but it's only available in .150 thickness. These panels will be installed in an open high wind area. Is .150 thick enough to do the job or should I be looking for something a little thicker like .220?

My second question is this...if we do need something thicker, or regardless, where would be the best place to acquire plastic panels this size? We are located in Central Illinois 2 hours out of Chicago. We have tried Cope Plastics in Peoria and they can only do panels that size on a special order basis of 20 or more sheets.

Does the existing cabinet have bumpers ??

If so, then they'll probably work.

If not, put some in to be safe. That's a big span.

Buy them from Grimco, I'm not sure if they will deliver that far though.

I will have to call them then. I was under the assumption they only carry it in 4 or 5 foot width rolls. Anymore I assume Grimco never has what I want because...well...they generally don't. I'm not a huge fan.

my supplier (denco) carries .177 in 100" roll stock - but as mentioned, interior bumpers and a hanging rail are key

Commercial Plastics in Republic, Mo are very reasonable with painted poly faces. They will also sell blank panned or flat if that is what you are needing. They make runs all over to deliver finished panels. You can give them a try, I've never been disappointed with their work. complastics.com
