You should work the vinyl into the concave areas, instead of heating & pushing it in. I'd advise you to take a wrap class to learn the basics.

If you can't get into a wrap class in the near future, pick up one of Justin Pate's training DVDs. That will help you get a better handle on the right technique for getting vinyl into concave areas without heat.
But live hands-on instruction is the best way to hone your skills.
