A connection with the server could not be established"????????

Since the last VersaWorks update to 5.1.1 the automatic update at the start up returns an error message: "A connection with the server could not be established".
My internet connection works fine and nothing has been changed elsewhere. Any ideas how to fix this?

I was also getting an error when the program tried to update. I closed VW then used the "online update" in the start menu. That updated the program but there are no new updates since doing that so I don't know if that fixed the problem.
