acrylic signage

We are needing to do 1/2" thick clear acrylic pictures second surface. We digitally print 4 color process onto clear polyester film with optically clear adhesive and mount to back of acrylic . Then apply white vinyl to fill in areas of white, we can't print white.
Next is black vinyl to make it opaque and then French cleats to mount to wall. We are having issues with the adhesion of the polyester film where we apply to cleats which leaves lines in the print from the front. Any suggestions or are we doing this wrong?

Here's what we do
CMYK mirror print (print direct or polyester film)
Mount a white 030 Polystyrene
Polish edge.
Epoxy glue for a 1/2" White PVC Cleat set.

We never did any black vinyl as there will not be any light on the wall it hangs on anyway. Plus the 030 Polystyrene block most light out too I guess.
