Actions Pallette - Calling Gurus

Ok,

So I finally got around to something I've been wanting to do for a while on my to do list.

Make actions for common tasks in Illy.

So far, I've created actions for the below;
- offset path
- unite selection
- and I've created one that creates a bleed around selected object but gives the original line a cut contour colour (which I'm loving).

The one I'm having difficulty with, is artboard size. I find I often need to go into edit artboards (shift+o) then select "fit to art". I'd like to make this one key, for example F5 or something. Anyone have any ideas?

Hit Record, Hit Shift+o, select Fit to Art, Okay, stop recording? Just a guess, I don't use that function much.

What's the point of the offset and unite selection actions, those are already built in buttons/options...?

Thanks Eric,

Are you saying on your version of Ai, in your object menu there is an item called "artboards"?

No such thing on my CS4 sadly :(

Signswi, the recording the keystrokes thing I've tried and it doesn't work! :(

The other stuff, I know, very basic, and already in the default, but I made them again in my own menu just for practice sake. I should have started using actions a while ago...

Yes there is in CS5. I skipped cs4 so I guess that won't work if it is missing in cs4

Thanks Eric,

Looks like it may be something they had on their todo list for the update I guess.

I did find something else in the objects menu which is of interest though... "convert to artboard". I tested it, and it is recordable. It makes the selected object disappear though, but I could easily work around that by creating a copy and making that copy into an artboard maybe... I'll give it a go!
