ADA questions

Hi, folks! I'm getting ready to lay out some ADA signs- all the signs have tactile copy (room name), and most have a room number. On previous signs we have only included braille corresponding to the room number. My question is, what to do on the signs that have a room name but no number? Will they still meet ADA standards without Braille? (my guess is no). These are wall-mounted room ID signs.

Can anyone advise or direct where to find standards? Thanks so much for your help, folks.

You still need braille.

Standards attached.

That packet was very helpful, thanks so much. I'm still unclear on whether all the text on the sign needs corresponding braille- in the case of a room with a permanent name and a number, does each element need braille? Seems inconsistent to do numbers w/ braille in some cases and names w/ braille when there are no numbers... is that the correct way to do this?

thanks for any clarification, folks!

All numbers and text require braille. The braille has to be under the corresponding numbers or text.

The sign MOZE is showing is somewhat deceiving

The room number on his sample probably should be raised numbers with braille.

The "Registration 1" does not need to be raised or require braille if the number is complaint. If it was required to be ADA compliant, "REGISTRATION 1" would be all caps.

Anything that identifies the room, whether numbers or room description requires braille and tactile. If the sign has a room number AND description, you can choose to just do the number.
