I'm doing a couple of various pieces for a client and they are requesting gallery wrapped edges. The majority of the pieces will be on 3mm PVC board and the other will be a large print on 1/2" ultra-board.

I've done some practicing on small 3mm PVC scraps without major issue but am just wondering if anyone has ever done this before and what advice you might have. The 4 PVC pieces are going to be 40" x 80" and the ultraboard piece will be 48" x 84".

Thanks in advance for any advice or help you can give!

Which part aren't you sure about? it would be the same basic process as with canvas except with vinyl.

Our shop does these regularly - actually just finished up a big job with 36 panels, except these were .5" thick - 1" thick MDF.

Allow a half inch extra for your wrap when you print. I see the guys use heat -even on calendared vinyl - to get the air out of the channel when they wrap around the edges on the wood panels, but you shouldn't need it on something as thin and breathable as 3mm PVC. Use 45 degree relief miter cuts on the corners up to the edge, wrap in the top and bottom first, then wrap to the sides so the overlap is on the top and bottom. We do that because the sides are generally more visible. Easy, schmeezy - you'll have no problems.

Thanks Bigdawg - that's exactly how I've been practicing. Just wanted to make sure I'm on the right track. Thanks for the reply!
