Advantages of a Mimaki flatbed? (vs HP)

I've been exploring my options for a new flatbed printer the last couple of weeks. At this point, I've narrowed it down to the HP FB500/700 and Mimaki's offerings. This is in part due to my previous experience dealing with HP and Mimaki.

The information in another thread (http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?109915-quot-Entry-Level-quot-UV-Hybrid-options) was extremely helpful to me, but that user was not considering a Mimaki flatbed.

I've spoke with reps from both HP and Mimaki, and right now I'm much more excited about the HP product. However, I'd really like to hear from people who have used the Mimaki flatbed printers. Is there an advantage to using their product over the HP?

Both HP/Scitex and Mimaki make good printers.

Do you have a specific application in mind?

For high production, cut sheets, you will find the FB series probably best suited.

Mimaki has done quite well with their small tabletop UV flatbeds; however, they have not faired as well as HP for large format production UV printing.

Mimaki is a fine art flatbed printer. Not a workhorse, and isn't meant for signshop production.

Have an HP and love it.

good luck.
