I'm not sure if the same building material is common in the US, but around here there's a fair number of buildings constructed using compressed fibrecement sheeting and it's always posed a problem for us choosing suitable fixings. Smaller guage button or countersunk screws just chew out the sheet and don't hold, 14ga hex-head coarse screws hold well (so long as they're not over-torqued) but have large ugly heads, wall mates hold alright but it adds a fair bit of time and cost.
