Air Purging JFX200-2513 EX Grievances

Hoping someone can help as this is driving me crazy. I have a regular model 2513 and air purging isn't nearly this head banging against a wall as it is for the EX. Below are some problems I am experiencing and I am hoping someone has some advice or tips and tricks to make this not a nightmare.

1) How in the world are you supposed to hold on to those little caps? I know the manual says to use a needle nose pliers, but half the time they shoot out and I have to go chasing them on the floor.

2) How are you supposed to see the hole where the caps go? I don't have the fattest hands, but they aren't slim either. I just end up fumbling around until I think I got it.

3) Is there a good system so ink doesn't instantly come running out of the nozzle of the tube?

4) I don't know who designed the bottle but they need to go straight to jail. The nozzle on the end of the tube comes out of the tip and spills ink everywhere. Is there a way someone figured out a way to keep the nozzle in the draining port of the bottle other than the .0000001" of lip that holds the whole thing together?

5) On my older model there is a timer on the purge, on the EX it seems to just keep running until I hit the end button. Is there a way to keep it timed, or is there a sensor out or something? I have the timing down good from the older model, but seems like a lot of wasted ink just letting it run if it doesn't need to.

1. I hate them too. I have no answer.

2. Flashlight and pliers is about all I've figured out.

3. When the screen shows "Set Tool Start" hit enter and the machine is supposed to drop the pressure so that when you take the cap off, the most ink that comes out should be a drip or two. Don't hit enter again until the air purge tube is attached. Then, when the screen shows "Air Purge Complete" hit enter. Then when it shows "Remove Tool Start" hit enter and only then take the tube off. It's the same idea as before. The machine should drop the pressure to allow you to take the tool off without a ton of ink coming out. If not matter what you do the ink flows a lot during those times, pressure might not be releasing properly which might need a repair.

4. Just use any receptacle you want. I usually use whatever bottle I have available like a coke bottle and just stick the tube inside it but don't submerge it in ink. The bottle that comes with the machine is not mandatory.

5. Not that I know of. I also prefer the standard JFX200 system much better. Including the cap design.

If you're having to do a lot of air purges, something might be broken. It should be a fairly uncommon procedure to have to preform.

We just had it installed, and I am not sure all the air got out. Also I like to purge the white bi-weekly to keep air out, especially with the temp and humidity differences from day to day.

I just do manual purges. Take a small syringe, grab a piece of tubing and steal the right-angle fitting from the drain tube. Move head over the wiper station (Maintenance> Station> Station) and gently pull air through the fitting one port at a time pulling just enough to remove air bubbles and maybe a half CC of ink. Not really the by the manual way to do it but seems to work fine for me.

Sorry, for #3 the ink comes rushing out of the nozzle with the tube, not the exit port of the sub tank.

We just had it installed, and I am not sure all the air got out. Also I like to purge the white bi-weekly to keep air out, especially with the temp and humidity differences from day to day.

I like this. I used to use an Acuity Advance and this is the way we did it, and was so much more efficient. Thanks I will have to try this out!

If you feel like modding the head plumbing, the Gen5 heads are designed to have ink on both sides of the channel. No bloody clue why they added a bleeder port instead of just a Y fitting like sane designers. Then again, they also opted for oddball 4 channel 150DPI heads instead of 2 channel 300DPI.

Also, the vent tube fittings are available under SPC-0836 if you need to order more. Single unit was under p/n M021057, but not many of those kicking around.

When I had a Mimaki JFX200 we ran it for 5 years and I think I had to purge 1-2 times. Bi Weekly is a lot and should not be needed unless you have a leak or change parts. It should be a sealed system. on our Mimaki 3042 and 6042 I think I have purged maybe 2-3 times between both printers and we have been using them for almost 8 years.
