Allen vinyl cutter Model 830 Plus

My company just dropped an old vinyl cutter in my lap & told me to get it to work. I am not even sure what type of software will commmunicate with it. I have an Allen vinyl cutter model 830 GT. It has a serial & a couple of parralell ports. Has anyone had any experience with this brand? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have an old 830D... I use FlexiSIGN to operate it. Connected via a RS232 Serial Cable.
I've also used it with the Parallel connection, works just fine with either.

The things are built like tanks. It'll last forever if taken care of.

dongle?

DO have the matching dongle for the PC that it running it.? My Allen 830 showed up without one.?!?

The dongle is for the software, not the plotter. What software do you have?

I used CasMate PRO with that plotter back in the day. I had to turn in my parallel dongle when I upgraded to FlexiSIGN PRO so now I have a USB dongle for Flexi.

Almost any version of Flexi will run the Allen. I use mine from time to time with Flexi 8.6 and the Allen connected via the LPT port.
