Aluminum Composite Panel Aluminum Thickness?

I am wondering how important the aluminum thickness is on these panels. I have called a couple of suppliers
and the thickness is .008. Another supplier I called a while back said the thickness was .03. Does that make a big difference in the quality of board? Durability? Rigidity? Screw-ability?

BIG difference, we got some sheets from YMS one time and the aluminum was like tin foil, the boards were so wavy and floppy they were almost unusable.

We normally get proveer's house brand, I find it has less imperfections than the Alupannel brand, which is full of little imperfections in the finish.

I got ripped off by YMS but I still have not found a use for that crap. It was like Plasticine.

It turns out the suppliers I called were using different measurements.

I also found out the top stuff uses virgin polyethylene, and the cheaper stuff has recycled poly and fillers.
The virgin poly can be used to fold, while the other stuff might break if folding.

Never heard of .03 for skinning any manufacturer's boards. Are you sure about .03 ?? If that was on both sides, that would be mighty heavy.

Millimeters. One supplier was wrong, it was .3mm not .03mm as he first told me. The .008 guy was in inches, which is .2mm.

Alumipanal is .3mm, and Alumipanel Lite is .2mm.

Max Metal HD is .3mm Aluminum Faces, Their Standard is .15mm and their 5x10 sheets are .21mm

E-Panel is .12mm, Moncor is .008, BePanel is .10mm, and DiBond base level is .12mm

wow, always thought alumapanel was .030inches, which is the thickness of my metal laminates & thinnest aluminum we stock... so it made sense to me.

actual tin foil is less than .001inches, for reference, so I guess .008in isn't too bad i guess, but damn was I way-off.

There sure is a wide range of quality between all the brands. I usually use polymetal and epanel exclusively but polymetal has gotten crappier and crappier lately. Paint finish is rough and uneven, sheets aren't perfectly smooth/flat...etc etc. Epanel is about $15 more a sheet but I've yet to see a sheet that isn't perfect.

Do you have a Grimco in Winterpeg? If so, try their Tru-Stock stuff. I've had issues with pitting and fisheyes in the finish of the AluPannel brand stuff, but their house brand is so far flawless, it's also cheaper
