Seen this on one my FB Groups, of a Wendy's sign that blew down a couple of nights ago, we've had some bad storms and tornado's on Sunday & Monday night, looks like the footing was just a bit shy of code in our area Northern Illinois.
not enough pipe in ground or big enough footer... that couldn't of been engineered that way or passed an inspection. i talked to a lot of inspectors around the country, and it was surprising to know how many big name signs, pylons mind you... are put up without permits.
Doesnt appear to be a failure as far as concrete depth, the sign doesnt seem to be that large to me. If it was a straight line wind whats was gonna happen did. We had a billboard taken down by straight line winds in out sity several years ago. I had a sign in a neighboring town blow over on top of a stone monument. I have 5- 5/8 x 8" titan screw in this sign and it blew my sign over and took all the stone with it....meanwhile 8' away was a damn yard sale sign still standing. the sign was 36" x 10'
