Only one shot to get it right. We've done quite a bit of cemetery lettering (death dates, family names, etc...), and there's no going back and doing it over the second time.

I have a ton of respect for this guy and have met guys who go to this wall every year as it is that important!

I find I'm holding my breath most of the time when I'm doing 20 names in a row ... doing a job like this is
way beyond my ability.

Way back when the wall was build I thought that perhaps an interesting story line for a novel might be that a vet visits the wall and finds his own name on it. He reports this anomaly to the apparatus and they find it simpler to kill him than to correct their mistake. The adventure ensues from there. Since that time a convention has been put in place to handle exactly that situation. The name of someone who turns up still alive gets its own special symbol next to it.
