Another HP Latex 310 Issue

Well, not even have had the printer a month and now we are having our second issue with the printer. The printers Magenta ink cart is showing that its completely empty -- but when I remove the ink cart it feels very full.

When the printer first came we had an ink leak warning that a tech had to come onsite to fix... now this. I think I have only run about 10 banners or so on it so far...

Attached a picture of the ink screen -- the magenta ink cart feels about as heavy as the other ones that say they are still really full... I have printed one 3' x 8" banner that that had a completely red background -- but that shouldn't drain the ink cart yet...right?? (I printed it 8 pass at 150 dpi)

feeling annoyed...

Just a suggestion ... try to run 'replace cartridge' and take cartridge out and than put it back in (maybe this will reset ink level).

p.s your posts are freaking me out ... i am getting mine next Monday ;).
 
I've been wanting an outdoor wide format printer for the last several years -- but I did it right -- Have been outsourcing -- I saved up all of my cash -- didn't take out a loan -- and now it seems that I have bought a friggin lemon. I contacted my sales rep and her response was " I'm sure these are just growing pains"...

Thats warped...

And so now I put in a service request with HP and they are trying to transfer me to their consumer division.... ugh

Its probably the ink cart, get a new one and HP will replace the defective one. You got to use that ink for free.

Happens occasionally... it can be one of a few things as its been an issue since l25.

1) Remove cart and clean the contacts on the printer and ink carts
2) Check cart to see if chip is misaligned
3) Carts chip may be bad, replace under ink warranty
 
I was talking with our installer. He is betting that the issue is with a wire that connects to the ink sensor. He said that when HP tech was onsite he probably bumped it and its been hanging on loose. Then yesterday when I tried re-seating the cartridge it loosened it completely. He said otherwise it could be the ink controller board....


Well I guess we will see if he is right...

Just try a new cart. Usually the simplest answer is the right one.

I get 1 or 2 bad carts out of a 100. No big deal and you get some free ink.
