Any owners of RF-640 printers in the house?

Just setting up a fresh one with Triangle RXV ecosol ink. Vworks provides Generic Vinyl 1 and 1 HD; Gen Vinyl 2 and 2 HD;
Gen Banner 1 and 2; Gen Paper; Gen Backlit; and Gen Heat Transfer Profiles.

Has anyone found any other profiles for this printer? Any idea what the HD designates on the first two profiles? I have an old i1
and some software so I will be trying to make my own .icc files eventually. The RXV is (supposedly) chemically and color compatible.

If you have one lets share info. I have the service manual BTW. Thanks Gene

Try Caldera

Hello Gene,

I am not a merchant member here, so I didn't want to post this in the forum. I'm a wide-format color shop owner here in Massachusetts, but I am a former Roland Field Tech, and current Caldera Certified Consultant. When I am not in my shop I travel across the country doing large Caldera installs for Agfa, VuTek and sometimes work with the HP grand format printers.

In my shop, I use and support Roland printers, but I am not a big fan of VersaWorks. It's super easy to use, and can print happy color... but it just doesn't do super color. You also don't get the granular control that can help you squeeze more print happiness from your printer... whether that be speed or quality (or both)

I suggest Caldera for the RF-640. The driver for the RF-640 is super and supports a whopping 28 print modes for EcoSOL MAX 2.

Roland printers + Caldera V10 = Awesome

If you had Caldera (and your i1 pro), you would be able to make a profile in say 30-45 minutes using the built in EasyMedia profiling module (it's the XRite Prism2 Color Profiler). Easy Peasy.

There's a nice 720x720 6 pass mode that gets you a smooth, high quality 10.8 sqm/hr (118 sqft/hr).
For your banners there a 540x360 4 pass mode that gets you 172 sqft/hr

I have several RF's and VS's in the field that were moved to Caldera. "Wow" is the typical response that I get after an install.

I can get you a full 15 day demo key (no restrictions) and can help you get it installed and quickly configured (via phone or TeamViewer). This runs on a Mac or a dedicated Linux box. Cost is around $2k for 1 printer/1 cutter (add $200 for a second printer)

Let me know if you have any interest. I appreciate your time.

P.S. Give me a shout if you need any technical help with that RF.
