Any Roland PNC-1100 Users Out There !!!!!!

Greetings one and all,

First of all, greetings from Ireland.

I have just received a PNC-1100 machine, which i bought blind at an auction last week, and only collected it today.

Once i saw it - i thought it was dead, it was covered in 2mm of dust, it had obviously been sitting on a shelf in a very dusty environment, for a very long time.

Now i know that these machines are ancient, but built like tanks. Anyway, took it home, dusted it down, plugged it in and bingo. Hello world !

So this old girl is back, clean and in action - well sort of, i don't know how to operate it. Is there anyone out there who could email me a manual for a PNC-1100, as i don't know if the sensors are working, if i can do a test cut, anything really.

I can navigate through the menus - no problem, but that is about it. The Cutter head moves across and back to its default position ready for work.

Anybody know of a self test i can do, as i need to know before i do the whole drivers, software, LPT1 cable etc....

Ok, just an update, found the test cut on the menu, don't ask me to find it again, as i have no idea how i got there, but all is good with the machine, sensors, rollers etc... all working as normal.

The blade is away from the vinyl though, i'd say maybe 1mm.

When the cutting head is about to make a cut in the vinyl, should the head move the blade down to the vinyl. Is this a motion that the cutting head should make or could it be that the blade is worn (going to have to get new ones anyway)?

Are Roland blades standard across all machines?

ok, Just a further update. I have now received the Service Manual and the User Manual for the Roland PNC-1100/1000A. Thanks to Mark Reeves

That's a good cutter you got yourself there. They aren't as fast as the newer ones, but they are built like tanks! I see lots of them still working. I almost bought one myself the other day.

I sold mine to a friend for $300 a couple years back. I regretted that decision the moment he walked away with it.

I got this PNC 1100 and a Mimaki CG -S45 (plus a laminator) for £50, which is about $75, the mimaki has a "pen error", can get absolutely no info on it - it must be ancient.

very little problems with that plotter i had 2 of my own. you can CUT direct from corel with it. i think the 1100 has a SLIDE button on the right hand side for down force pressure. set it dead center to start. if the cutting strip is chewed you can remove it turn it over and stick it back in till you get a new one.

I think that is where my problem is, the slider does not affect the blade at all, the slider is very loose, think it has lost its connection inside.

it sounds like you have the blade holder in the head wrong,...,the blade should just slightly stick out of the holder enough to cut the vinyl,..when in the up position the holder should be just high enough off the vinyl to not touch it when it moves and when in the down position it should cut the vinyl,....the down force slider on the side does not affect this movement it affexts the pressure on the up down solenoid to cut thicker or thinner materials

The menu for the test cut can be accessed by puting the pinch wheels in the down position and the alternately pressing the menu and enter buttons ,...with a little practice you'll get the routine down,...

the menu for the settings for the plotter itself can only be accesse3d when the pinch wheels are up,...then you can set the language and other settings that are not related to cutting or drawing,..,,.,
