I was cleaning out my supply room this weekend and ran across the first vinyl cutter we had. Gerber introduced their Graphix3 back in the early 80s and we got it for a discount because they were replacing it with the Graphix4, I took it out and fired it up but could not play with it because I had no perf. 15" media. Ah the memories... I proudly displayed it next to my Comadore 64.

We started with the equivalent SignMaker 3. It lacked autokerning. When the SM-4 was released my distributor was amazed that I was willing to spend $2,000 to upgrade just for the autokerning.

I had the same machine and did the same thing with the upgrade. I got wind about the 4B before Gerber advertised it and convinced them to do mine right away. I had a friend fly me over to their headquarters and waited while they did the upgrade for me.

I told several other shops I had a 4B that would auto kern and they said there was no such machine. A few months later they saw it advertised in the mags.

I sold that original machine to a shop in Florida and they still have it today.

I started with a 4b and within a year of owning that one I remember this little device I purchased called the "SCRAPPY" loved it. Thanks Fred.

I also remember Gerber had this smaller machine which cut 4" vinyl I believe.
