Anyone watching the Winter Olympics?

I'm not saying what you said is wrong, but do you even realize that in the last 75 years, the number of countries has basically doubled ??
Something the Soviets know all too well when they had their little collapse. And there is actually a growing movement to break up the US as well (and it's got quite a bit of movement to it (already seeing portions of states wanting to join other states), and if there is still this amount of division in our politics, I wonder what will happen). The politics of the twentieth century is giving way and that's what we are seeing here. That shift in politics.

Like the old "curse" goes (jury still out on if it is an old Chinese curse or not): "May you live in interesting times"

Only thing I saw on the Winter Olympics was the story on the Finnish guy with the frozen penis that was posted on here. Never have ice skated in my life. So my interest in winter sports is low.

Now if they put poker in the olympics, I would watch that.

I'm not saying what you said is wrong, but do you even realize that in the last 75 years, the number of countries has basically doubled ?? Your numbers are really nonsense based upon some silly poll. Rather than say what you did, please list all of the military involvements you are referring to. Otherwise, I don't have time to look up something that doesn't exist. And if you look even further, there were only around 35 countries in the early 1800s. While we might've participated in quite a few conflicts...... how many were we defending when fired upon first and how many were we begged to come in and defend world peace ??
You need to get some information into you so you understand more about the country you live in and the fact the the "Government" that you believe runs your country has been corrupted by global influences long before you were born, and officially in 1913 in a secret meeting on Jekyll Island which gave birth to the privately owned US Federal Reserve.

Here is the list of US military involvement, I would get a coffee it's quite a read!
And here is the Federal Reserve meeting information.

This is the kinda crap, I despise. You..... telling me what I need to do, read and understand ?? Who are you and what makes you think you got it straight ?? You think cause you read some bullsh!t somewhere in some pink commie catelog, it's true, so you can spew forth your own propaganda ??

So, you're still too frickin' lazy or dumb to even list your source(s), let alone I specifically requested you to list them. I ain't reading your garbage.

So, go do your back-pedaling and SHOW me the errors of my ways. I ain't gonna look it up and do your homework for ya.

It's easy to make a 1 sided case against just about anything which is what people do with the federal reserve. Unfortunately these arguments do not take into account what if it was not there because it would contradict their narrative. If you want to point out a problem, like with the federal reserve, then you should also point to a realistic alternative including the flaws of your proposal. Chances are, what we have is the best arrangement when everything is taken into account. As they say, perfect is the enemy of good.

Apparently the PM of CA wants to (atleast with his own citizens it appears). I also wouldn't necessarily trust wikipedia for above board info, but that could just be me. Also the little history blurb from the Fed also pointed out that there is still debate on what went on explicitly.

Not sure how you work, but I saw nothing which told me you had links up there. Nothing highlighted, underlined or any other hints. I don't read with my cursor, so nope, I never saw it.

Anyway, curiosity got the best of me. You realize that many of these things you called wars were nothing more than skirmishes, defensive moves and protecting someone else who could not fend for themselves. Yes, there were conflicts with Indians and other peoples, but your example took each and every shot fired almost as a separate conflict. Many of the names were from back when there wasn't even an America. Spaniards, Indians and others fighting....... How in the world do they count ?? They took into account our defending ourselves against invading enemies from pirates to the english to anytime a gun was fired. That list is just a count of how many shots were ever fired. Cripes, the Great War went on for almost 4 years, before United States entered, and mostly because of being hurt by the central powers. Even WWII we kept out until we were ambushed and attacked.

As for that silly crap about the Jekyll Island....... believe it, if ya want. I never really learned or studied much about it, but maybe I will, but for now, it's just a buncha words put together to just strike another blow at success.

When the forum updated, the UI on linked items changed. I wish the admin could make it more discoverable, but De.signs Nanaimo does have links in his post.

Even WWII we kept out until we were ambushed and attacked.

Well, not necessarily totally true. Aid was given up until Pearl (just not the kind of direct aid that most think about). Of course, there is speculation about Pearl and what went on leading up to and during etc as well.

I'm still disturbed that when I was back in college and we had a final (now this was Equine Industry, not one of my many (many history classes, I probably could have majored in it with the credit I had, but I needed a minor, so I just minored in it officially) history classes, on Dec 7 and there was a bonus question about what happened on "this" day XX years ago. All I can say is so much for "a date that will live in infamy". Of course, to be honest, how many have complete ABC and NBC radio broadcasts of what happened on Pearl and listen to them ever Dec 7 (one year its ABC all the way through, the next year NBC and just alternate). Especially those in the ag department.

As for that silly crap about the Jekyll Island....... believe it, if ya want. I never really learned or studied much about it, but maybe I will, but for now, it's just a buncha words put together to just strike another blow at success.
Even that article that was cited mentions that it is still debated as to what all went on.

We did not shoot a shot, even though our merchant marines and vessels were being sunk in both world wars before we entered. Giving aid in bullets, tanks, planes, ships is not the same as firing a gun, which we did in self-defense in both wars.

Here, where I live, every weekend around D-Day, there is a 3 to 4 day re-enactment of WWII. Then, this guy does the whole routine of driving up and being escorted by MPs and recites Roosevelt's live in infamy speech. He doesn't look much like him, but he sounds just like him.

The links are there click on the word "here" above. I never called them wars, I said military involvement, maybe you should read things thoroughly before commenting. And I love your argument that my factual words are just words linked together, yes that is called language!

Giving aid is being involved. Is it the same level thing as active military involvement no, but it is involvement. To say that we were not involved, we should have been isolationists (which was actually the predominate sentiment from the populace at the time). And we were not isolationists because of that. In fact, due to the predominate populace sentiment of wanting to be isolationist, leads to some conspiracy theories about Dec 7.

My great Uncle had a WWII meetup here (last time that I saw him alive, almost twenty years ago since that meetup). I had no idea that he was one of those that actually carried one of his squad to safety. Found out more about him from other people that night compared to all that he ever told me.

Yep, I read it all again and you're right. The US is basically to blame for everything wrong in the world from the mid 1500s to present day. We did it all and I for one, am glad to be an American. I'm just glad de, that you're not from this country. I'd be ashamed of you. As for involvement and whatnot........ I'm not interested in definitions of aiding people in need or distress, but while our people were being murdered, I guess you'd rather split hairs with words and pick your side.

Whatever, unless ya say some more foolish propaganda bullcrap, try to stay out of our country and mind your own business. Ya have enough of your own silly-a$$ problems. Don't read the far left stuff, either. Live these things and make decisions based upon real facts, not made up fantasies.

Sheesh, what a buncha sh!t ?? Where do these people dream this sh!t up ??

I think you are going a little overboard with emotion. I don't really disagree with what you say in the scheme of things, but there is nuance. If I recall correctly, not only aid in the way you mention, but we also helped train British soldiers as well before we were technically at war (and we have done that a few times in other countries at as well, some I could agree with, some I would not have). It is not as black and white as people like to think that things are.

That is some really spine tingling stuff going on there with the emergencies powers being enacted.
Given what the leadership here has done/said (or lack thereof) with regard to what is going on there, I would imagine that the convoy that is heading that way now, don't be surprised if something like that tries to go on as well. Just sayin'.
