Architects should start out as signguys...

That's not the actual art. I've seen the actual art. In 22 years of dealing with vector art the file Bruce was sent is hands down the most jumbled up pile of garbage I've ever seen.

Now come on Pat you're not an Architect so you woudn't understand:)

"Frustrating dealing with idiots who have degrees." Funny stuff Bob. I sympathize with your plight, visual.

thats an understaement!!!! Feel your pain - your not alone!

and contractors for that fact.

Large firm has designed wall murals for a university we bid on. There are about 5 that are roughly 20' tall and 45' long, partials murals with long flowing designs. I bid on it for another sign compnay out of town and won it. I then asked for VECTOR ART. Yeah, they sent over a file with 500 fills and 16000 layers, you get the picture.

I then explained I needed vector art, no masks, no layers, no fills no strokes. He sent it again but instead of doing as I asked he just "hid" all those layers. Shot it back and responded with try again with a screenshot of what his crap looked like when I unmasked it all.

They also are wanting a mural digitally printed on trasparency on the pool windows....facing south...on the OUTSIDE! I told them that is something they would not want to do here in bama in the summertime, they will be replacing it in 2 years. They responded with "Thats why we designed an overhang on the roof to protect it" The building on the back is two story tall and the overhang is approx 4' sticking out over the windows thats leaves 80% of the print getting all day sun.

I do not understand why these folks do not listen to people who do this for a living. i dont care if your a sheetrock hanger or apoolboy they need to listen. i have never met a more arrogant group of folks in my life. they must attend "You now know it all" classes before they graduate:banghead:

That's a bold statement, I have seen pretty bad files myself... wish I could have a peek.

Not really. It's confined to the realm of his experience. Some might have experienced worse, but in his experience that's the worst that he has seen. Or most jumbled rather.

I wouldn't pass on that one!!!!!

Rick is as good as they come (in my book). I'm giving him 1/2 the time that Circleville mentioned. 5 minutes tops.

I have had some really bad artwork... one took a week to rebuild after going back and forth about "final" artwork. I know the frustration, even billing with adding my frustration rate, I yelled at the designer through my screen the entire time... but I did get a lot of pent-up anger out.

man, i get those to especially from designers. Its good for print but many times i need to contour cut the designs and the masks and layers are crazy. it seems like i could have designed em easier and probably faster.

You in front, have a corn dog too... :corndog:

My comment was an underhanded way of trying to get a peek, what, don't you people ever get curious?

By the way I'm working on artwork where the "designer" made this logo and used white boxes to make a break in the color, instead of just making individual boxes spaced correctly. Plus 6 masks... minor I know, but amusing and infuriating.

Note to self:

"Westy" is alergic to corndogs... include Benadryl and have crash cart ready...

(have some more :rolleyes:) :corndog::corndog:

Oh yea, I'm just choking on the love here Rick. I never knew you cared so much.

I guess it's thankful I'm not allergic to the corn dog.

Looks all choppy, like it was designed on AutoCad... I wonder his screenshot would look like prior to sending it over to you?

That might take a while to fix. You might want to warn everyone of the yelling and cussing you are going to do at your screen. Oh and a box of screen cleaners, crap tends to fly out of my mouth when I'm yelling at the screen, you might mistake stuff stuck on the screen for a stray vector.

Any particular reason it isn't being printed on something like phototex and wall wrapped instead of pounced and painted? Seems like the art is outside the scope of the process...

Just got this today from an Architect, not sure where i'm going to get 10 mm thick polished stainless steel for a small interior washroom sign, or how i'm going to drill the braille beads into it :banghead::banghead:
