I purchased a new computer and it has a pretty good video card, but I seem to have an issue, and can't seem to find anything online or from anyone I know as to what might be causing it.

The problem is that using the internet or programs the screen freezes up when scrolling or designing or playing a game, and the only way to release it is to click any of the mouse buttons. It also kicks you out of any typing areas like this one and you hear a dinging sound...then you realize that the line you typed stopped hallway through....again a mouse click gets the cursor back in the dialogue box and off you go until the next time it happens.... maybe 30 seconds or so.

Where do I start? I have tried 3 different mice and it does it on all of them. Have updated drivers for the video card and every windows update has been done.

It is extremely frustrating to deal with.

any ideas?

Try updating your video card drivers for one. Should be either Nvidia or ATI.

Did you install the graphics card yourself or did it come with the computer? Recently I have noticed, to cut costs, computers that don't have a graphics card pre-installed have sub-par power supplies and can't handle the better graphics cards. Check the supply. It should be 400 watts or better. Anything lower is going to cause problems usually.

will do...although the computer was called a gaming computer, I would hope it would have a sufficient power supply, but you never know.

What do you have plugged into it?

If it is not what was suggested already, it may be a USB priority thing. Try getting a good USB hub and plugging the mouse into it. I learned with my CNC machine that a good USB hub will take priority over other devices.

What else have you loaded on the PC? I would try getting the free versions of Malware Bytes and SuperAntiSpyware and run full scans just to take that issue off the table.

Can you try another graphics card? Does it have on board graphics as well as a separate card? Maybe there is a jumper needed to install the second card?

Good luck keep us posted!
