We are getting ready to purchase a sewing machine so that we can finish our banners in house. Our question is, which process is better: lockstitch or chainstitch?

What I have gathered so far:

    Lockstitch: Juki LH 3578
Pros: More durable, sews monofilament thread better and can sew in reverse.
Cons: Folder is additional and it can be slower

    Chainstitch: Kansai DLR 1508P
Pros: Faster, has additional needles, has a puller and allows room for rope to be sewn in.
Cons: Not as good at monofilament thread, so we will have to stock many different color threads. It has the chance of coming unraveled.

What am I wrong about or what am I leaving out. I want to get all my facts straight before we make a purchase. Somebody please drop some real world knowledge on me.
