avg upgrade?????

I have been receiving avg reminders in all my comps to upgrade to 8.5. I did on 2 of my comps, but on my computer that runs my printer it took several sessions of bit by bit downloads to finally get it up and running. Problem? It's in German now. I hope this is a legitimate upgrade and not some virus stuff. anybody know?

Ok i'm glad im not the only person then. It must be a problemon Grisoft's end. I ended up just going right to the site free.grisoft.com and downloading the v8.5 right fromt he site.

grisoft is a german-based company....hence the german....and i'd contact them if you can't get it read in english....maybe it/you downloaded the wrong file?

I upgraded to 8.5 a couple of weeks ago (the paid version) and added it to two additional workstations at the same time. If works fine and no problems on any system.

The only problems I had was a very finicky shopping cart and site layout for selecting the product you want.

OK I feel a little relieved. I hear there is some virus coming out any day now and it is no joke. I want to be as updated as possible. Fred what is the difference between the free and the paid as far as virus protection?

I upgraded it a few days ago on my home pc ... No problems on my end. One thing i did notice was the default language it was wanting to install was german. I just selected english and it installed fine. Your problem might have been "user error" Gab ;-).

Not sure without looking it up. I think it adds malware and browsing protection along with a firewall if you want it. It also removes the statement from your emails that you're using the free version. I changed to it back when they first introduced the paid version. When it was about to expire I decided to spend $95 to protect all three of my workstations for two years. I had previously used Norton products and have become very disenchanted with them of late.

i'm wondering if this new version has become like Norton in that it seems to have slowed down my laptop, especially for internet use.

call a local computer shop. my buddy runs one, and just installed the newest version for me while upgrading a few other things as well, but he brought it all on a disc. so i couldn't tell ya about the downloaded version.
