Bad roll of RTape AT65?

I know lots of people here don't care for clear tape.

I do a lot of 2 color layered customer self installed graphics. So clear makes it easier for me to layer as well as looks nicer for the customers.

Ive used AT65 and Oracal 651 for several years and it's been great. I just got a roll of AT65 from SignWarehouse this week and it doesn't appear to be very sticky and having issues pulling the vinyl off the liner.

Im aware of the flip tip but I've never had to do it with AT65 before. Could it be possible I have a bad roll? It's like 78-80 degrees right now in my shop not particularly ly cold.

Just wondering if I'm going crazy before I email SignWarehouse customer service.

Thanks

Not related, but I recently had a post about some bad R-Tape 4075RLA paper mask. I've always had good luck with R-Tape until my last roll. I ordered my through Fellers(more and more as SW support & shipping speed are slow), and they sent me a new roll 2 days later. I'd call Sign Warehouse and explain to them what's going on--its very well possible the roll might be bad or left in the warehouse too long(??) What method are you using for layering(just out of my own curiosity)

another possibility is they sent you the wrong roll, assuming you verified inside the core that is was the AT65 or the tape was mislabeled and is in fact the low tack version

on a side note we switched over to MainTape for our clear tape and are very happy with the change

What version of MainTape do you use?

We have been having trouble with AT65 for a while with Oracal 651. Even had a rep come out and they can not explain why its not pulling the vinyl off the back of all letters. It actually cost us a large company that we cut DOT's and Door decals for last year. When we didn't receive an order I reached out and they said they were unable to use a lot of the previous order so they ordered from another supplier. We have changed to paper tape but a lot of my customers still request clear.

So if you figure anything out let me know.

I'l call them today. I use registration marks and a light box to help me line them up. I could use paper I suppose since I'm using a light box, but I still feel like its easier for customers to align their graphics if they can actually SEE them :)

I actually checked cause I did get a Roll of AT60 by mistake once before. I'm noticing that I can pull the tape off the roll really easily where as the previous roll i had to put some effort into it. I'm def going to look into MainTape as a backup.

This worries me a lot since i JUST sent out a bunch of signs in the last few days before realizing the tape wasn't lifting (signs i sent out were single color, i found out when I started layering)

The PreView Plus version both the medium and high tack versions depending on the size of the graphic

Hmmm this is much cheaper than Rtape too. I think I'll order a roll, hopefully like it, cause it will save me $20 a roll!

if you contact Rtape they will send you a sample roll to test.

With price point and the performance we have seen have made us loyal to it and our main masking tape
the high tack is just that HIGH TACK.... we only use it for small stuff, under 12", or high detailed cuts otherwise it is a PITA to remove.

I'm an RTape fan for 4 years now so I'd prefer to stay with them but i do use Main Tape for paper and it works well.

Interesting turn of events...just tried that roll of AT65 again but i pulled about 10ft off of it and trashed it. it seems that now its stickier. I can even tell when I'm unrolling it, its got more resistance now...hmmm

...could shipping it this time of year have damaged the outer edge of the rolls adhesive? its been really cold lately....its not cold in my shop at all, but I'm sure it was in sub 50 maybe 40 degree weather on its way to me.!
