I'm looking to hang a banner from an overhead canopy. The top of the banner will be attached to the canopy, and the rest will be left to "flap" in the breeze.
What I'm looking for is some kind of tracking to hold the top in place. One idea is where you have a rope, or round plastic strand that is sewn into the banner, which slides into a track. Or could I use a section of "banner track" (the flip open and closed type of thing). Would that hold if I only use a section for the top of the banner?
I really like the "slide in" track idea, but I don't have a clue what you would call that. I've done a search but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Does anyone have experience with this type of product for long term outdoor use (occasionally changing out the banner, of course)
What I've done so far......
I've attached a banner using webbing and "D" rings (in the top hem), along with rachet straps. That technique allowed the banner to flap over itself, basically destroying the "scrim" banner in this cold weather......the customer was using a 10ft section of pvc conduit to flip the brittle banner around.
Would a mesh banner (flapping in the breeze) hold up better than the vinyl scrim? Within a couple months, the existing banner cracked and frayed terribly (12ft x 30")
Seems its always the smallest jobs that cause me the most grief.
