Hi everyone,
I have a 50-ft banner to hang from the top using grommets and carabiners. The client is concerned about the bottom moving too much, even though it will be installed indoors. Unfortunately, there's no place to secure it at the bottom.
I’m considering adding a steel rod at the bottom as a weight. Does anyone have suggestions or think this is a good approach, given the size of the banner?
Photo for reference.

Like, 50'x20' tall? I'd be more concerned with your choice of carabiners holding it up vs the banner flapping in the 'breeze' indoors. Most carabiners aren't rated for overhead loads, and those that are get pricey. Though I guess if you're going with some 13oz or lighter material, it won't weigh that much. I'm used to laminated panaflex at that size, and that stuff is heavy.

There are grommets every foot. I’m planning to use quick links for this, each rated for about 205 lbs, so for now, weight is not my concern unless there’s something I’m overlooking. The banner is a 13 oz black-back banner.

For now, I was advised to use conduit, so I’ll give it a try and see how it goes.

Thanks!

This is for a 5/16" quick link, probably too big to even use in a grommet, and while it's capacity is far beyond a banner, it still says not for overhead lifting.

I'm not trying to tell you it's a bad idea, or discourage you from using them, it just bothers me that the less professional folks around my region will hang anything from S hooks and walk away. I'm quick to add cost for shackles and the like.

You need a fabric material.
Super light.
Go to your local car dealership like Mercedes and look at the huge pics on the walls.
Beautiful prints, no seams, sagging or ugly hooks and grommets.

Outsourcing is your friend.
