Football or Soccer is becoming HUGE in the US. They just removed the salary cap.. and they're getting paid huge here. NBC & CBS just joined fox in starting to air all the international soccer games. Soccer has the biggest following in the world, and it's spreading here..it's an awesome sport.

obviously nfl is #1.

baseball is like a waste of a sport.. so awful.

flame away.

"Soccer is getting HUGE" I have been hearing that for 25-30 years...still don't see it.

Like I said, by age 7 kids want to do a REAL American sport!

GOAL!: Franck Ribery scampers down the left wing and crosses, looking for Mario Mandzukic at the far post. Pique makes a hash of his clearance and slices the ball into his own net.

I have no idea what that means...but, GOAL!!!!!!

Don't know how popular it is but there is definitely big money in soccer.
FIFA just spent 1.7 million dollars putting in a single new pitch here on our tiny little island.
It is in the same facility (they paid for) that already has a 1.2 million dollar field they laid out just a few years ago.
It is opening up opportunities for local kids to travel and compete in international competition all around the Asian Pacific region.
Our U14 national team just came back from playing in mainland China.
Hard to find this kind of support in any of the other mainstream sports here on our (broke) island.
Go soccer.

The organization governs all levels of soccer in the country, including the national teams, professional leagues, and the amateur game. With over 13 million Americans playing soccer in the United States, soccer is the third most played team sport in the U.S., behind only basketball and baseball/softball.[SUP][1][/SUP] The popularity of soccer in the U.S. has been growing since the 1960s and 1970s, and received a significant boost when the United States hosted the 1994 World Cup
I just posted this a min ago

For those who don't think it's an "american sport" USA has been ranked as high as 5th best team in the world in the past few years.
