I am always unsure of a good font to use on directional signs such as 12 x 18 no parking signs, fire route, etc. In the past I have used impact and transport heavy but neither of these really look good to me so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a really good font choice for these.

Helvetica or Highway Gothic families. Stick to industry standards.

Helvetica condensed bold is what we use.

Highway Gothic fonts are what the MUTCD calls for.

For "real" signs (like on the highway) I use Blue Highway.
For parking lot signs I typically use Impact or Arroyo, unless it's a more high-end parking lot.
I also use Chesham Sans wayyy too much but it's such a clear, clean looking alphabet.
