Black flowing into red on detailed prints

So this has been an issue for a while...pretty much as long as I can remember. Normally just try to avoid printing fine detail that is black and red. My machine had some dithering on the black forever so thought that may be causing it. Replaced the head and it didn't help. Seems like there is just too much black being put down. But oddly will print super crisp lines right up next to any other color....only red is giving me an issue. Tried reducing the black ink output down to as low as 40% but all that did was make the black looked washed out.

Anyone have any input on this? Flexi for the Rip/print which normally withe the profile I have prints everything perfect. SP-300V is the machine.

In Flexi make sure the color for your black when you select it is 'black' and not 'all', meaning full ink from all channels. Have seen this on several occasions over the last decade.

Edit: after re-reading the last sentence of the first part I realized this is not the case...sorry.

The only work around I have found is changing the "pure hue" setting on black to checked (I run red and yellow checked always). This provides what is almost a thin white outline around where the black and red meets. Not really ideal but at least you can read what something says on small decals. Unchecking the red helps a little too but then the red is washed out looking (which is why I always run it checked).
