Booth in a car show

Every year I have a booth in a car show. Last year i took my t-shirt press and cutter. This year i am going to just take my cutter, the t-shirt was a pain.

Anyhow looking for ideas on advertising. I don't want to turn into that flea market, selling things. I don't do any copyright logos or anything.

So far i have Coozies, pens, t-shirts, printed decals and plotted decals to give out. Anyone have any other options of what to do..

My target is business owners.

Why are you taking the cutter? I would think that if you're there hoping to talk to business owners the last thing you would want to do it come across as a "sticker" booth.

I have taken it the last 4 years. I have people just come to the show to find me. I cut business logos there, done magnets, etc. When i cut vinyl and weed and premask it brings a lot of people to crowd around and see what is going on.

I have plenty of business cards. ;)

Doing stuff like car shows will only get "those" kind of customers...the ones that watch too much "fast n loud" and will tell you "it is jist a sticker"...bottom feeder customers imo.

BTW I love fast n loud, I have a 76 Bronco..not fixed up like that.

I have been charging 8 cents a sq inch.. (all depends on what it is and if i have to do a lot of designing and what not) I def stay away from the racecars and them sorts.

so a 4" x 24" decal is $7.68? even with calendared vinyl and cheap mask you are close to costs.

Do you know how much your actual material costs are? How long does it take to design, cut, weed, and prepare a decal?

do you?
poor comparison, that would be conservatively $0.27 worth of material. Granted at one off's that would never be worth it, but in large quantities who would argue with those %'s

So if you spend all your time cutting these business decals and logos, how do you have time to interact with so called business owners that you need to build a business relationship with? If those are the ones you are targeting maybe you should think about leaving the cutter at home and setting up a simple professional looking booth instead of being just a "sticker guy". Talk to the business owners, give them business cards and leave any little giveaways (coozies, pens & whatnot) on a table for people to pickup if they would like them. I know me for example, doesn't like being given those stupid little things at trade shows, I'd rather just be handed a business card and a handshake. Just my two cents!

There is always a minimum of 3 people in my booth answer questions and talking to people. It is about 20x30. First booth when you come into the center. I have been in business for 8 years and i am 28 so i think thats pretty good. ;) . I understand what you mean about not bringing the cutter, but people love it and it attracts attention. I would be pretty bored for 3 days without it.

Any other ideas what i can do ?

wow! 8 years LOL! I have printers older than that still going in my shop...
One would hope your printers are older than 8. Around here you have to be over 16 to work full time.....
