Box thing around objects gone in ai cs3

I have gotten used to scaling things with the box around whats selected, but it is now gone. Anybody know how to get it back? I've been looking in preferences, view, etc and can't find it. I am using ai CS3.

Just throwing this out there, but are you on the white selection tool or black selection tool.

Or have you tried shutting the program and then restarting it. I have had cs3 do some weird thing in the past when opening a file. Restart the program and sometimes the computer and it is working again.

Under "View" select "Show Bounding Box" also "Show edges" is selected
its possible you accidentally hit the short cut keys

You have to open it up and get rid of the box, its just an annoying habit of Illustrator.

Ctrl + Shift + B - turns the bounding box on and off.
