We've just started using this Briteline Multigrip for wall murals recently and until now haven't had any issues. Our latest job has started to lift only a few days after install. It appears to be lifting at an overlap seam. Upon further inspection both overlaps seams (its a 3 panel mural) are starting to lift. Worth noting that the left and right ends of the graphic, along with top and bottom do not seem to be lifting. Only where the material overlaps appears to be an issue. Anyone have any advise on how to fix/avoid this issue going forward?

Laminated? Inkset used?

The fact that it's only having issues sticking to itself tells me something's up with either the laminate or ink.

We have used this material, mainly as distancing floor graphics in the past, I would think because the textured "grip" on the surface is possibly what could be causing the material not being able to stick to itself. Yet, if you have had success in the past....not quite sure. Is a butt seam an option? May cause a slight gap from shrinking over time, but could be better than full lifting at the overlaps. If a possibility, there is a chance you could take a straight edge on site, carefully cut through both layers in between overlap, peel upper layer away, and untuck/pull beneath layer out and reset.

That is a product that is really meant for floors in my opinion.

Don’t use Briteline. Garbage. I used this stuff in the past. Never again.


Short term, removable try GF 226. Installs well on most flat wall surfaces. Just make sure area is clean. I’ve used 100s of rolls for temp wall murals.

If permanent go 180.


Always tell your client about the possibility of wall damage with removal with ANY product.

No lamination as it is a textured wall product. Printed with Eco Sol inks. This is the first time we used overlapping seams. I wonder if it's just not great at sticking to itself. We used some 3M edge seal for now to fix the immediate issues. Probably going to try the butt seam, cutting through both layers that Dluckz suggested if it continues to be an issue.

Bah, so many versions, which one are you talking about?
The only thing I really trust is SLX+, though substance is really really really nice. If you still have a printer, pick up a roll of substance, or ask them for a sample.

I've come back on a couple of ATM wraps that were on brand new machines, that had a coating of anti graffiti epoxy that was crazy textured, like EFIS. We heated every inch and pressed it with the fancy TSA-4 tool, it looked like paint by the time we were done. A week later and it was lifting. After talking to the bank for a while, I finally figured out who manufactured them, and discovered this coating was to blame. Came back to site, slipped some 3m 467MP behind the lifted area, reheated and applied, and never had to come back.

The film likely needs a thicker coating of adhesive in order to stick to the texture. Try the Retac from Drytac. It is a lot less expensive than 3M, you don't laminate it (even less expensive), and I've never seen an issue on the overlaps and we've sold thousands of rolls.

We used a 1/2" overlap. We haven't heard of any more issues since fixing with edge seal so hoping it was just a pressure issue or similar. The product seems great otherwise. We've had issues with low VOC paints and regular digital vinyl in the past so we are nervous with any wallcovering now.
