Can you adjust the steps in a signlab gradient?

I'm looking for somewhere I can control the steps in a gradient fill. I'm running SignLab 8 print/cut.

What do you mean by steps.

meka: I don't believe so. The work around would be to use the metamorphasis with the desired number of steps.

JR: the number of intermediate colors between the end color points. A low number of steps would give you visible banding.

hmm, I couldn't find anything to adjust it.
I have a file I was sending out to print and our printer mentioned that I change the gradient steps from 256(default) to 999 for best print.
