Can you plot from Photoshop to a graphtec?

This is probably a ridiculous question... but... I just ordered Photoshop CS3 professional for my mac, and after I did it I thought... "um... I can plot stuff from photoshop, right?" I have a graphtec CE3000-60 plotter, and it would suck if I couldn't plot EPS files and whatnot straight from photoshop and had to bring them into flexisign on my PC to plot them.

Photoshop makes bitmaps (and limited vectors)

Illustrator makes vectors...but even still requires a hardware specific "plug in" software driver to plot directly from Illy to plotter.

Use Illustrator to make your cut vinyl not photoshop.

PLOTTERS READ VECTOR not BITMAP...i think you can find out the diff on youre OWN ...if you cant SELL THE PLOTTER!!!

Unfortunately, you will be needed to purchase Illustrator/Corel if you want to plot directly from the design software (still will need the plotter plug-in and driver for it however) Your alternatives to this would be Flexi or SignLab as well. Another thing you might need to look into is the drivers since its a mac (or run Parallels Desktop on the mac).

Peej...dont give up..a work around here is to get Corel..not real expensive. if you get Corel 12, a lot cheaper than the newest version.

ha ha thanks guys. Its not a death... thing. I have and have had FlexiSign for a longgg time, so I'm not totaly sunk. I just like Photoshop sometimes. Sux you cant plot straight from there though.

Photoshop is just that, a photo chop-chop program. It's not a sign program and not a good design program. I think too many people are trying to use it as a design program, when it simply isn't.

Try Illustrator or Corel, lot easier and you keep stuff as vectors.

I think the graphtecs come with the plugins for illustrator to cut directly from it...atleast my FC7000 did!

Yea, Graphtec makes a plugin that you can download for free from their website to plot from Illustrator. I got the photoshop just for my own personal use with my side hobby of photography, and thought it would be nice if I could use it to plot things. It really doesn't matter.

I know with my flexi 8.whatev. pro you can install desktop drivers for my Roland printer, and I can print right from Photoshop, but I don't have any options for a contour cut or whatev.

Like I said, it doesn't really matter... it just would have been nice.
