Cap Tops on a VP-540

I am having issues with just my black head every now and then. If I have a two day lapse where I don't print much of anything, it tends to loose a bunch of nozzles. Normally after a few medium cleans, it comes back. It happened again yesterday and when I went to pour some cleaning fluid into the black cap top and I noticed that the cyan cap top started bubbling a little. I have had this for a year and a half and the cap tops are original. I let it soak overnight with no luck. So I pulled the cover off and hooked a syringe onto the the hose coming off the black cap top and sucked some ink through it. The test print came back perfect after that. So is that a sign of cap tops needing to be replaced? Also, my dampers are the originals as well. Would you recommend replacing them too?

How old is your Roland? Roland recommends (take it for what it is worth) that you change the captops every 6-8 months.

It is about 18 months old. It has just been the black head that I have had issues with.

If you have a syringe, I would recommend hooking it up to the tube coming from the capping station and pour some cleaning solution in the capping station and pull it through with the syringe. Please make sure your head is sent over to the left of the machine when you do this. You have a slight clog in one or two of them, but that doesnt mean it can't be worked out through the tubes.

Also, when you print head is back above the capping station, make sure your heads are lined up properly with the cap tops.
