Carriage disconnected

I have a Roland SolJet Pro II ex Model, as the head started to print register marks they bounced horizontally making a double image, my screen came up saying carriage disconnected.
any idea whats going on, I hear from some that the carriage sometimes is not disconnected and may just need some oil by a bering. Any suggestions

I'd start by cleaning your encoder strip. That message really means that the scan motor encoder and the linear encoder signals are no longer in sync.

Also, run the environmental match after cleaning the strip.

Ok but you lost me at the environmental match any help?

There is a menu item called, "env match" just push enter and it will automatically run the sequence.
