Cast vinyl on gelcoat?

I do know how to install vinyl and proper prep procedures. My masking tape wasn't sticking well that's why I asked. The gelcoat is VERY smooth. I believe is had been sanded at some point. The vinyl seems to not be taking as hard as I would like.. Suggestions??

I didnt mean to insult you, my apologies. I just wanted to throw that info out there for anyone who isnt aware of Teflon. That stuff is very very hard to remove as you are well aware. I think the nonsticking of the masking tape is just par for the course with gelcoat, as i have had the same experiences.

maybe is it old gelcoat that has oxidized and that would cause the non sticking issue
