CET FK512X White Ink Proflie willnNot advance in blank space

I really would like to figure this one out, I have a run of 45 4x8 sheets that have 4 one inch regions of print that should only take about 5 minutes if it would advance. I have to let it print nothing for the entire sheet basically for 35 minutes.

Any help appreciated!

in the firmware under sytem, there's a check box "skip white at blank space". but it doesn't seem to work the same as on most printers. it seems to do it occasionally on the margin. maybe there's something about my file that is causing it not to call it "white space"?

Here is the thing with that Artbot...It is checked. It is funny that only white ink is the only profile that does that. We spoke with our color profile specialist and he stated that it is just the way it is.

I was able to speed it up by discovering a separate profile called PPS that has white ink available in 360, 720, and 1440 versus only having it available 720x720 on the profile I have only bee familiar with.

Granted I have to print the sheets 2x because 360 does not lay down as much ink, but 12 minutes a sheet beats 35 minutes.

so if there's white ink in the profile, it will skip white space? or white ink in the ripped print file? all of our profiles have white attached.

Profiles are a completely new thing to me. I know for a fact that I need to start fresh with brand new profiles. We recently purchased an i9 profiler with pantone bridge. I need to get the guy in here and get this done. It would make more sense to me to have white available no matter what speed. Use it when I need it.

So I have a list of the profiles here that I am familiar with:
360x1080 CMYK
720X720 CMYK
720X720 BASE WHITE
720X720 COVER WHITE
720X1440 CMYK

Today I discovered several new profile sets which I used one of them to speed up my process. I used a PPE I believe that contained each profile with a variation with or without white and also other options like black only and even varnish of which never has been configured for. I am not sure how this thing was initially setup before I took over. I assume that a new set of profiles were added for the second set of heads that were added a year ago. Which makes sense why the 360 white bottom profile I used needed to be printed 2x to get a somewhat closer appearance of the double hit white that I get on my normally used 720x720 profiles I use.

Back on topic. I was told by my profiler guy that the white ink profile does not advance in blank space and that is just the way it is. I am not sure I am set on that quite yet.

Does anyones CET advance blank space with white ink?

so that explains why we never seems to get the white advance. i hope there's some technical reason beside just having lazy programmers. also, when there's a narrow spot that with most printer would have the carriage jot back and forth quickly, the carriage still swings the full length of the print. wonder if that would change without white ink attached to the profile?

I know what you mean Artbot, our Epson and Roland solvent roll to roll printers carriage travels only where ink is printed. Not across the entire artboard area. That would be an excellent upgrade to these printers in advantage of print time. It cannot be that hard, I mean they are extremely accurate to the smallest fraction of an inch. There is no reason to not have these features, no matter what COLOR the ink being printed.

@Nick,

It is just the way the driver is made. It will only skip the blank space if your profile is without white or 6 color only. It does not skip blank space because of the data padding that onyx is sending to the software driver for the white channel. There is no data that is actually sent but the data container is there.
