changing colors in CS4???

Hi all ... I am working on a background image that is kinda of a flame on the bottom and some tones of gray on the top... I wanted to change the flame coloron the bottom to green but not change the grays ... I was able to do that with the Hue/sturation adjustment but that also put a tint to the gray on the top... is there a way to adjust the color in just a portion fo the image in CS4? ... thanks alot shawn

The fastest way is add layer properties, gradient overlay with a color to transparent fill. Set to luminosity more then likely but that style may vary.

Otherwise mask the image on a blank layer and brush in the part you want grey. Adjust style as needed.

you could use a mask on the adjustment layer
