cheap simple rip for Encad 850

any suggestions for a basic low cost rip for running an encad 850?

Never seen or really heard much about it but someone mentioned this one to me at some point

A novajet should be supported by most any of the mainstream RIP's as well.

dug around on the site. ...don't think they are in business anymore. i could also buy some out of date old rip if anyone has one. just running b&w mono files. so anything will do.

for black/white YOU DONT NEED A RIP. a RIP takes away the banding in color shading, like going from red to yellow............

well, let me rephrase. i will be printing 99% of the time in black and white. there will still need to be some kind of interface for the printer. what is the best/cheapest solution? i'm using an 850 for a proxy printer as i get the mechanical working on this diy flatbed printer. i'll probably use the encad for a few months to debug too. (rather fry or damage an encad then something fancy).
