All that bracket building and hinging wasn't needed. First one I ever used the guy had just screwed through the deck of an old saw and into a piece of plywood. Flipped it over, stuck it between two sawhorses, BAM....instant table saw. All the adjustments on the saw still worked.

I use to work construction and we would do that all the time when we were too lazy to haul around a table saw.

+ 2 for screwing a circular saw to a sheet of plywood

I'd rather by a table saw than go through all that work

But, I guess if you like tinkering around in the shop/garage, have at it!

Dangerous assuming that the blade's turning the wrong way trying to grab the work out of your hands and walk its way on top of it instead of pushing it down onto the table and back at you like a real table saw. Exactly the same problem when attempting to rip on a radial arm saw. Dangerous.

BOB...........you need to watch it again.
he has the blade rotation correct for a table saw. he cut a board and the small piece kicked back at the operator. CORRECT!!
as for ripping with a radial arm saw........YES DANGEROUS.......IF YOU try to rip with the blade from the wrong direction. a radial arm saw can RIP, but onlyif you feed it from the LEFT..INTO THE BLADE ROTATION. i have a radial arm, and have ripped many 2x4, 2x6, 1x4's all day long...........as long as you feed material from left )))))

Actually, I think he used his home made band saw for most of the cutting. He does have a powermatic that I have seen in other videos. http://woodgears.ca/bandsaw/build.html
