Chinese products

Just curious if you steer away from Chinese made products including tools for the industry.
I for one will not go near a product made in China if I can help it.
Most of my products/machinery are made in USA, Germany, Japan, UK, Mexico.

Thanks

Harbor Freight and Dollor Store are my number #1 source for tools. I love the sight of light green cast iron.

Why boycott China and not any of the other countries that produce products not made in the USA? Why would Japanese products be okay? Still Asian.

I sure as he'll won't give up my Chinese food.

Only a fool will make that statement. There are good and sh***y products from every country.

I guess you do not use any computers, electronic gidget and appliances.

Wait, how did you post this thread?

A few years back there was a couple who tried to live their life without purchasing any products that were made in China.
They couldn't do it.

Myself, I try to buy Canadian, but value for my money is usually what motivates my decision what to buy.

In my old job I was involved in a buying group who imported products for distribution to Candaian retailers. it should be noted that most factories in China make items to spec. weather it be low or high quality. They are quite capable of manufacturing items that equal made in USA or Canada products. It has been our "want everything cheap" attitude that has shipped jobs overseas and lowered the quality of the items we buy.
It looks like the pendulum is swinging back the other way though. Conversations like this are taking place more and more.
We also have to remember that if we expect to be paid forty plus dollars an hour for a union protected unskilled labour job in a manufacturing plant we need to be prepared to pay more for the items made at home.

Don't you think with all of these people out of work, we could create a work force that would be delighted and blessed at the same time to feel useful and productive and we could get things moving again ??

Nope, people in this country either don't really want to work, or they want ridiculous wages for sub standard skills. That's okay, things are going to change sooner or later once people start getting hungry again...

Because Japan doesn't undervalue their currency like China does, directly affecting your economy, and they have better labour laws and practices than China as well. Either way, you're still purchasing a product that benefits another country's economy, but one has a more direct negative impact on yours than most others.

I'm not of the "Dey took are jorbs!" mentality, as jobs can't be stolen, only sold. Still though, every time I purchase a cheap product from China, I can't help but wonder who's domestic job was sold so some poor shlub in Shenzhen could be starved and forced to sweat for thirteen hours a day, at a wage that could hardly buy a slice of bread.
